Pyrenees

After a day with many unplanned detours, it was quite nice to finally see the mountains.

We had one final leg stretch when we saw a place to stop next to the river.

And then we finally got to our little mountain lodge at Airotel Pyrenees. It was so pretty and had underfloor heating and shutters in front of all the windows.
We unpacked, then sat down for a drink while the boys played some cricket.

This was the view from our cabin when we woke up this morning.

Later on we went to explore the town of Luz St Sauveur. We got some supplies from the Carrefour including 5 lots of cheeses. Then bought 5 lots of salami at a little corner shop. Guess what we will be having for lunch for the next week??

We then went to look for Napolean's bridge. The boys spent ages playing next to a stream. We then found this little waterfall.

This bridge was built in 1859 by order of Napolean III to provide his empress, Eugenie, easier access to the local thermal spa.

I loved the mountains and like at every place on our trip so far, I wished we could've stayed a bit longer. I guess we will have to do a 6-month long trip next time...
