Our trip today took us from Frejus in France to near Asti in Italy. We drove on toll roads most of the way, because free roads would've probably taken about five times as long. Firstly, because it would be much further, but secondly, because it is so beautiful and we would've stop every 5 minutes. At least on the toll roads we could only stop at the rest stops.

The boys were counting tunnels as we went through them. When they got to about 15 we suggested for Alex to make some notes, because he was soon going to run out of fingers and toes.
We went through a total of 142 tunnels!! The boys were sure that none of their friends could beat that for a tunnels-on-one day record...:-)
